WHERE IT STARTED

I kept learning other people's languages.
Then I started wondering — why not mine?

Darija Beats started from a simple idea. I'm Moroccan, and throughout my life I've learned languages from other countries to communicate with people around the world. One day I started thinking about it the other way around: why shouldn't people have the chance to learn my language too?

Not textbook Arabic. Not something disconnected from everyday Morocco.

Darija. The language we actually speak.

I wanted to create something for a tourist coming to Morocco, someone living here, someone with Moroccan friends or family — or simply someone somewhere in the world who fell in love with the culture.

Because when you understand the language, you don't only understand words. You understand more of Morocco.

THIS WAS NEVER
JUST ABOUT
TEACHING WORDS.

IT STARTED SMALL

And grew the same way a language does.
Little by little.

A word.A phrase.A pronunciation.An exercise.A lesson.A real conversation.

Darija Beats grew from explaining everyday words and phrases into pronunciation practice, exercises, guides and live lessons. But the idea underneath it never changed.

Get a little
closer to Morocco.

I want someone to arrive in Morocco knowing nothing and eventually have their first conversation in Darija.

I want someone who's been living here to finally understand more of what's being said around them.

I want someone with Moroccan family or friends to feel closer to the language they hear around them.

And I want someone on the other side of the world to discover a part of Moroccan culture that translation alone can't give them.
